Buttigieg babies win Halloween, and more moments

KATHRYN CHAVEZ: The cold touch of midterms may be over, but winter's bite is inching closer every day. In the world beyond Georgetown, the lead up to the Virginia and New Jersey elections made social and digital media nothing short of peculiar over the last few weeks. With so many hot takes, bad takes, and takes given way too soon, there are a few people who need to take a Twitter break and not be allowed to write op-eds. So, this week we are focusing on the best of social and digital media.

Best: When I say 'good morning," you say it back

I remember seeing this original moment go viral months back and genuinely laughing out loud. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marsha Fudge knew that this was her moment and she was not to be disrespected. It was the perfect amount of sass for the White House press corps. Plus, I love that she was able to join in on the fun when someone referenced her press conference.

Twinfrastructure –– it's just too cute. Not only did Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten dress their twins up in matching costumes, but the twins also matched the Secretary's vibe: trains, planes, and automobiles.

Best: First Lady Jill Biden’s Instagram

I love First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. She’s intelligent, well-spoken, and most of all kind. Luckily, her marvelous qualities are reflected in her social media and online presence. I will admit, I did enjoy former First Lady Melania Trump’s outfits; she had fantastic taste when it came to clothes (for the most part). However, Dr. Biden is conveying nothing but light as she takes on the role of First Lady. I cannot wait to see what she will accomplish over these next few years, and if you ever need a pick me up, or a reminder that the White House is bigger than just legislation, turn to her Instagram.

Best: Graphic design is my passion, move over politics

The House Democratic Caucus must have hired an intern that knows how to use Photoshop because that is a bold Instagram post. It is a clean edit, as the paper edge is a sharp transparent that looks like a piece of ripped paper. Not to mention, the post is correct that climate change is an issue we need to take head-on as there is no planet B. The only qualms I have with the post is that it doesn't quite match the overall look of the House Dems Instagram page and is a bit too out there for a post on the House Dems Instagram.

Best: The easiest and best Halloween post starts with a pumpkin

Quick, easy and straight to the point. It was not only an effective way for Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin to highlight a possible future voter in this post and make his day, but also a great way to show others a fun way to advertise. I was honestly surprised I did not see more posts like it on my feed.
